Tasting notes
Early tastings suggest a fresh, clean young raw pu-erh profile with a light orchid aroma, lively savory freshness, a quiet mountain-wild character, gentle honeyed notes, and a refreshing finish in the mouth.
Brewing
Use the suggestions below as starting points. Raw pu-erh can change noticeably from one infusion to the next, so adjust leaf amount, water temperature, and steeping time to your taste.
- Gongfu brewing, recommended: Use 5-6g tea for a 100-120ml gaiwan or small teapot. Use water around 95-100°C / 203-212°F. Rinse briefly to wake the compressed leaves, then start with quick infusions around 5s, 8s, 10s, 12s, and 15s, adding time gradually for later steeps.
- Western brewing: Use 3-4g tea for about 300ml water. Steep at 95-98°C / 203-208°F for 2-3 minutes. Re-steep 2-3 times, adding 20-30 seconds each round.
- Easy cup / grandpa style: Use about 1g tea per 100ml water, or 2-3g in a medium mug. Add hot water, sip when the liquor is comfortable, and top up with more hot water as you drink.
- Adjustment tip: If the tea tastes too strong, bitter, or drying, use slightly cooler water, less leaf, or shorter early steeps.
